High-Quality Products for Long-Lasting Results

Bodanske Wood Flooring uses industry-recommended refinishing products tested over time for application and performance. Bodanske Wood Flooring prefers using water-based products with minimal fumes as the recommended choice highlighting lower VOCs. Low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) flooring results in better air quality and fewer health risks.

Dust-Containment System

Before refinishing begins, Bodanske Wood Flooring removes the moldings, as needed, around the perimeter and sands the hardwood floor. Floor sanding creates dust as a byproduct, so controlling dust is essential. Fortunately, Bodanske Wood Flooring’s dust-containment system captures a majority of the dust created in the floor sanding process. Less dust means less cleaning after the floor is refinished.

Timing for Refinishing Your Hardwood Floor

Hardwood floors, typically ¾-inch thick, can be sanded and refinished several times throughout their lifespan, depending on overall use and wear and tear. An alternative to a re-sand would be a maintenance coat (also known as buff and re-coat). The process consists of a deep cleaning, light buffing of the existing polyurethane, and the application of one coat of commercial grade, water-based polyurethane. This process will extend the life of the floor.

When is it time to refinish a hardwood floor?

  • To refresh an aged hardwood floor due to normal wear and tear
  • To refinish the hardwood floor before moving into a recently purchased home
  • To refinish the hardwood floor before selling your home to increase equity and marketability
  • To refresh areas of the floor that begin to look grey especially high traffic areas such as entry ways or hallways
  • To refinish areas of the floor that lack shine or luster
  • To restore a floor with water damage
  • To show the natural beauty of a hardwood floor revealed when carpeting is removed
